Kerala will start air(helicopter and sea plane) tourism services from the 2nd week of october. The GITC, in association with King Rotos and Air Charter will launch the service, which the operatos say will be the first of its kind in Kerala.

The Kerala government would initiate steps including enactment of laws to promote the tourism sector in Kerala, Minister for Tourism Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said here on Sunday. He was speaking after distributing the state tourism awards at Kadavu Resorts. Law will be enacted to enable the entrepreneurs to start their ventures without waiting for issue of licence.
“If licence is not issued within the stipulated time, the entrepreneur can start their firm,” he said, adding single-window system will be introduced for issuing licence.
The Minister said the government would ensure all security for those who desire to invest in the state. The government will institute award for responsible tourism from next year.
Those in the medical tourism sector, NGOs and local bodies involved in tourism will also be considered for the awards, he said.Kodiyeri said more than 3000 buyers have already registered for the Kerala Travel Mart which will begin in Kochi next month. A Malabar Travel Mart will be conducted in Kozhikode next year, he said.

| The ‘International Travel Expo 2006,’ a three-day exhibition of the Kerala tourism & travel industry, will be held at the St Joseph’s School Exhibition Centre, Thiruvanathapuram, from September 7 to 9. |

The 54th Nehru Trophy Boat Race won by Paipadan Chundan of Kumarakom Boat Club.
Paippadan Chundan Captained by Raju Vadakkedathu, took the lead from the half way mark onwards and surged ahead. The team, which has rich legacy in the tournment’s history, bagged the Nehru trophy and prize money of Rs.3.75 Lakhs.
For the first time in the history of the boat race, ten women rowed a boat in the category of Thekkanodi and created history by winning the cahmpionship in their category. Julie Amer, who led the foreign contingent, said they will also contest for the next year .
Kerala Chief Minister will inagurate the 2006 Nehru Trophy Boat Race on the banks of Punnamada Backwater, Alappuzha at 2.30 pm.
Preparations have been completed for the 54th edition of the boat race in which more than 60 boats will participatein eight categories.
A new website listing house boats in Kerala Launched.
